Quincy University will host its Winter Commencement ceremony on Saturday, December 14, at 9:00 a.m. in Quincy University’s Pepsi Arena in the Health and Fitness Center, 20th & Oak Street. The 2024 winter graduating class is comprised of 43 undergraduates and 12 graduate degree recipients.

University marshal Robert Mejer, M.F.A., distinguished professor of art, and assistant marshals David Kirchhofer, Ph.D. and Scott Luaders, Ph.D., professors of physics and chemistry, will lead the procession. Sarah Vordtriede-Patton, Ph.D., provost and vice president for academic affairs, will convene the ceremony. Reverend John Doctor, O.F.M., vice president for mission and ministry, will deliver the invocation and benediction. President Brian McGee, Ph.D., will give closing remarks. QU students, Adam Liesen, Crystal Middendorf and Sophia Zanger, will join Jonathan Stewart, DMA, associate professor of vocal music and director of choral activities, to perform the National Anthem and the Quincy University Alma Mater. QU President Brian McGee will deliver the commencement address.

Dr. Brian McGee is the 24th president of Quincy University and has been at the university since 2019. He is a Midwest native with over three decades of experience in higher education. McGee’s time at QU has included the university’s largest freshman class in 50 years; four of the five best fundraising years in the history of the university, including its largest fundraising year; the addition of many academic and athletic programs; and renovations for several of the university’s largest buildings, including the current multimillion dollar renovation of the Quincy University North Campus.
